How to Start A Blog

Not that long ago I was reading blogs about pregnancy, mom life, daily routines, and cleaning hacks. I realized all the information came from other moms similar to myself or complete opposite of me that I could learn from.

One night when I was looking at my Pinterest feed I saw a pin that caught my eye, it said, “How I Make $10,000 a month blogging!”
Well that sounded good to me! I thought, I am a mom with three kids and one on the way at the time, we live in the country, have a variety of pets, grow a garden, and eat gluten and dairy free; someone might find some of my tips or recipes useful right?

Let me tell you, there are so many different types of blogs you can have!

First off find your niche! Whatever you are planning on blogging about there is a niche for it! Health and fitness, travel, finances and budgeting, lifestyle, food, beauty and fashion and personal development are some popular ones.

Trust me if I can start a blog I assure you that you can too!! I’ve never been tech savvy or the one in front of the classroom, but blogging is a way to put useful content that you know out there and in a way that works best for you.

The more time you put into your website the more you are going to get out of it as far as income. It is not a get rich quick type of thing. With that being said it is a way to work from home and make a decent to highly successful income.

It’s really quite simple to get a blog up and running. You can get it started and not go “live” with your website until you have a couple or more posts ready to go. Or write your first post as soon as you are done signing up and post it and go live immediately! When I started I thought once I signed up and started my website I would be “live” at that moment but that’s not the case. You can choose when you are ready to have your website live and open to the world!

Choose which plan is best for you. So far I have only needed the basic plan. It is the most commonly used plan.

Next, you will be adding your domain name. This is your web address! If you haven’t decided on this yet thats ok. You can skip it now and fill it out later. This is a big decision to make so no rush!

Fill out your account information.

Next, is billing. Like I said before it is cheapest to go with the 36 month plan, but do what suites you.

After making your payment you will be setting up your password! Almost done already!!! This password is what you use to access your blog so make it good! Make sure to write down your password for safe keeping!

After logging in you get to pick your theme! These are the free ones that come with your blog unless you pay for a different one. Don’t worry if you aren’t sure if you like the theme you just picked because it is so simple to change it later! It is as easy as a click of a button to switch to another theme!

Yay, Start building!

Now you can click on Business but if you choose Personal I think it is interchangeable.

Next you can choose your site title and tagline! You can change it later if you want so don’t worry if your not 100% sure of it! My site title is Where The Lilac Grows and my tagline is Mom Life Tips and Gluten and Dairy Free Recipes!

Now on this page you don’t have to click Launch if you want to first make a post or two. You may also want to start to navigate your way around.
