Great For Kids
Jump to RecipeHere is a smoothie recipe I came up with while trying to curb my sweet tooth! I not only wanted chocolate but I also wanted some protein and something nutritious!
Although I came up with this recipe while making it for myself, after looking at all the nutritional value I thought this is great for kids!
After giving some to my 11 month old I added a half cup of cold coffee to it and it was so good! It was the perfect midday snack with an energy boost and protein to help sustain my energy!
If your making it for yourself and you are trying to cut down on calories I would suggest replacing the one cup of almond milk for one cup of coffee or half of it for coffee. That will save you 60-30 calories, but if your replacing a meal for this I would just go with all the almond milk in it.
I am still breastfeeding at the moment so I feel like the nutrition and calories in this smoothie will benefit my breast milk. I have a hard time keeping weight on while nursing, so I appreciate nutrient and calorie rich foods at this time.
Add whatever topping fits your fancy! Chocolate shavings, cinnamon, chia seeds, hemp seeds, chopped nuts, coconut, or sliced banana with cocoa powder sprinkled on top to name a few! Yum 😋
In this recipe I use cacao powder because it is so good for you! It has magnesium, potassium, and 2g of fiber in just 1 tablespoon! I also used hempseed! This stuff is so nutrient dense! In one serving it has 10g of protein, 7.5g omega 6 LA, 3.0g omega 3 LA, 0.6 super omega 6 GLA, and 0.3 super omega 3 SDA!
In this smoothie there is 17g of protein, 7g of fiber, antioxidants, and omega 3’s and 6’s.
